Radio journalists from Chisinau and Tiraspol produce first joint program

The first edition of a joint radio program produced by journalists from both banks of the Nistru River was broadcast at the radio stations “Radio Moldova” (Chisinau) and “Radio 1” (Tiraspol) in the evening of June 29, IPN reports.

The joint radio program, entitled “Bridges”, will be aired simultaneously, on the last Sunday of every month at 7.05 pm. The first program, in the Russian language, was about touristic sites on both banks of the Nistru River. The journalists from Chisinau and Tiraspol prepared features about picturesque places from the bank of the Nistru River, the archeological sites in Ofatinti, Camenca, the Catholic church of Rascov and the underground galleries of Dubasari.

This is the first joint project of the radio journalists from “Radio Moldova” and “Radio 1” since 1990. It is possible due to the assistance provided by the Council of Europe “Confidence Building Measures across the River Nistru” Program, with financial support from the Austrian Development Cooperation.

According to a press release of the Council of Europe Office in Moldova, in the period November 2013 – June 2014, the “Confidence Building Measures across the River Nistru” Program organized two workshops on how to develop the concept, format and content of a joint radio program and a number of planning meetings of the directors and chief-editors from “Radio Moldova” and “Radio 1”.

Since 2010, the Council of Europe has been implementing its “Confidence Building Measures across the River Nistru” Program in a number of areas such as media, education and civil society. Equal participation, transparency and dialogue are the three principles on which the implementation of the program is based. In the period 2013-2015, the Council of Europe will be implementing a range of activities in the following fields: human rights in the social sphere, human rights in places of detention, civil society, cultural heritage, media, and higher education.
