Moldovan speaker, top EU bank officials address new development projects, reforms

Moldova might benefit from new grants from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to restore roads and develop the agricultural sector.

Parliament Speaker Igor Corman today discussed with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti and President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Werner Hoyer implementation of new development projects in Moldova. The officials tackled the investments of the two development partners in various sectors of the national economy, including roads restoration, developing infrastructure and agricultural sector.

The officials also approached the actions undertaken by the Moldovan authorities to implement the reforms agenda in fighting corruption area, providing stability of the financial and banking sectors, attracting foreign investments into Moldova’s economy.

Igor Corman said the Moldovan parliament had political will to adopt the legal framework meant to ensure the implementation of reforms. In the context, the two officials reaffirmed their commitment to back Moldova’s modernisation and economic development.
