AITA building seized in Chisinau

One of founding groups of the International Association of Road Haulers of Moldova (AITA) has seized by force the Association central office in Chisinau on Tuesday.

Well-informed source in AITA told Infotag that due to this unprecedented situation the International Road Transport Union (IRU) has suspended the TIR carnets’ action for Moldovan road transporters.

This is said in the official letter, signed by the IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto, sent to AITA

According to the source, 15 thousand TIR carnets (permit documents for Moldovan transporters), which were in the office of the AITA president, are now invalid.

Infotag’s dossier: Since the beginning of 2014, there is a conflict of interest in AITA between two groups of the association members, who accuse each other of different violations. It started 10 years ago, when amendments were introduced in the AITA legislation, according to which 50% of votes, as well as joint-stock shares were transmitted to the association authorities and association activists close to them. Several members of the association spoke against this decision and conducted on January 31, 2014 a meeting, reelecting the company’s administration. A part of the association founders disagreed with this decision, as well as the AITA administration represented by its permanent leader Vladimir Florea. During all this time the conflict between founders was under consideration in the court. In parallel, the Association administration was engaged in developing of a new charter draft, which was to pass an examination in the Competition Council and in Ministry of Justice, as well as to be agreed with the IRU.
