Iurie Leanca invites German investors to start businesses in Moldova

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca called on the German investors to start businesses in Moldova. In a meeting of businessmen in Berlin, he welcomed the support provided by Germany to Moldova on the path to European integration and pleaded for strengthening the bilateral economic ties, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the Premier spoke about the unrealized economic potential that can hold interest for the German companies. “Moldova will create all the conditions needed for prosperity and success. Almost 400 companies with German capital already invested in Moldova,” said Iurie Leanca.

The Premier also referred to the advantages provided by the Association Agreement with the EU that was signed on June 27 and ratified by Moldova’s Parliament on July 2. “This is only a start of road for coming closer to the EU principles, norms and standards and its competitiveness. The flow of new investments will allow Moldova to create jobs, to modernize the industrial installations and to ensure sustainable economic growth,” stated the Premier.

The Government of Moldova undertook reforms in such areas as energy, education and the financial sector, which were welcomed by the IMF and EU. “The efforts we made until now to promote a stable economy produce the first results. The Gross Domestic Product rose by almost 8% in 2013. Our industry grew by 7%,” added the Prime Minister.

Iurie Leanca is paying an official visit to Germany at the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
