Sewerage system in Sangera to be reconstructed with European funds

The residents of Sangera town will be connected to the municipal sewerage network after the works to reconstruct the local sewerage system are finished. The administration of “Apa-Canal Chisinau” announced it will provide technical assistance to implement the project to reconstruct the sewerage system in Sangera town, which was designed by a Romanian company, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Chisinau public utility, the works to construct the new sewerage system in Sangera will start in July. The EU allocated over €2.5 million lei for the crossborder project that covers Romania, Ukraine and Moldova. The money will be used to reconstruct sewer pipes of 70 km and four wastewater pumping stations.

The works will continue until next October. The reconstructed aqueduct will ensure the residents’ access to improved water supply services. This will have a positive impact on the population’s living conditions and health and on the environment. When the sewerage system is put into operation, it will be transferred under the management of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”.
